From the Desk of Natasha N. Hazlett, Esq.

Hi There!

I wanted to ask you a few quick questions...

Has making (or updating) an estate plan been on your to do list for a long time?

Did you recently move to Tennessee from another state?

Do you think that you don't need an estate plan because you don't consider yourself "wealthy"?

Do you think that you don't need an Estate Plan because your family "gets along" and besides, "they can just figure it out when you're gone?"

If so, you're not alone.  I've heard these things a million times!

The sad reality is, these are some of the very reasons why families wind up with a huge MESS after their loved one is gone. Over my 20+ year career as an Estate Planner, I've seen many a family legacy tarnished due to a simple failure to create a solid, comprehensive estate plan.

Now, you may be thinking....

"Natasha, I've got it covered-- I wrote my own  will!" or "I got a form online, so I'm all set"

Yeah, I've heard that one too- many times from beneficiaries that hired me because their loved one went the DIY route and  did it incorrectly, or the "form" didn't do what they thought it would...

Those families end up footing a hefty bill for me to clean up the mess that their loved one left behind because well- DIY has a LOT of pitfalls.  I'll explain what kinds of pitfalls in my upcoming workshop!

Now maybe you've been putting off getting an Estate Plan because you've been to one of those Estate Planning dinner seminars where you get a free dinner in exchange for listening to a presentation about how you need a Living Trust-- but spending $7 to $10K on that kind of trust just isn't in your budget...

I'll give you one little important nugget before you even sign up for the workshop:

Contrary to popular belief most people in Tennessee, don't even need a fancy 100+ page Living/Revocable Trust!  In fact most people get sold on a Living Trust to avoid probate- and then mess things up after they leave the lawyer-- and ultimately end up paying for a probate on TOP of their expensive fancy schmancy Living Trust.

I'll explain it all when you come to my Estate Planning 101 Workshop!

Before I tell you about the Workshop I'm hosting this month, let me introduce myself...

I'm Natasha Hazlett, and I'm the owner of Hazlett Law PLLC:  a boutique Middle Tennessee estate planning firm.

For the past 20+ years, I've served as a trusted advisor to individuals, couples and families- strategizing with them on the simplest, most cost-effective way to fulfill their financial goals and legacy wishes.

In two decades as an estate planner, I've seen it all- from simple, quick estates to disastrous, costly family battles.  That wealth of experience is what I bring to the individuals I work with.

Since I run a boutique law practice, I cannot work with everyone.  So, over a decade ago, I started hosting Estate Planning 101 Workshops to educate people in my community on:

(1) what Estate Planning is and who it's for;

(2) why it is needed; and

(3) how to get the right plan in place for your situation.

Each workshop is 2 hours in length, and it's extremely thorough-- far more than you would get in an initial consultation with an attorney!

I absolutely love sharing some of my "war stories"- because the reality is...

"You don't know what you don't know!"

I can fill in the gaps... we'll talk about the costly mistakes people have made in the past, so you don't have to fall into the same traps!  Plus, I can almost guarantee that I'll have you laughing throughout the class!

By the end of the Estate Planning 101 workshop, you will be far more educated on how it all works, and things you need to be considering when creating your own Estate Plan.   You'll feel much more empowered to make informed decisions when it comes to planning for your future and the future of those who matter most to you!

If that sounds good...

Here's a Taste of What We'll Cover...

  • The Top 10 Mistakes Most Families Make When It Comes to Estate Planning (and how to avoid them!)
  • Financial Powers of Attorney vs. Healthcare Powers of Attorney
  • Living Wills & Advanced Directives
  • Wills vs. Trusts
  • Probate in Tennessee (is it really as expensive & time consuming as they say?)
  • Estate Planners vs. General Practitioners (Not all attorneys are the same)
  • How much is this all of this going to cost me?

I hosted this workshop in Boise, Idaho- where I lived for 9 years- and it frequently had a waitlist...  Now, I'm thrilled to be bringing my popular Estate Planning 101 Workshop to my friends in Middle Tennessee!

You May Be Thinking...

But wait!  Other people buy me dinner- why do I have to pay for this workshop?

Fair question!

My hourly rate is $350/hour. You're getting 2 hours of my time- where I will likely answer 90% of the questions you have about estate planning. You're get all of the knowledge for less than the cost of an appetizer at dinner!

The primary reason that I charge a nominal fee for this workshop is that it ensures that individuals who are serious about learning from me, reserve the seats. I have very limited spots and after a decade of running this workshop, I know that those who pay something, show up and engage more with the content.

Additionally, I will be providing light refreshments and workshop materials for you!  You will receive worksheets, a pen and a notebook so you can take lots of notes!

Meet Natasha Hazlett

Natasha Hazlett focuses her practice primarily on estate planning, probate, along with estate and trust administration. She also has extensive experience in administering and settling complex and contested decedent’s estates, handling will contests, establishing guardianships and conservatorships, and drafting estate planning documents such as wills, trusts, powers of attorney and advanced directives.

Natasha strives to put her clients in the very best estate plan for their needs, and clients have come to respect Natasha’s no-nonsense, simple approach to estate planning!

There are a LOT of misconceptions about probate and trusts that abound. Natasha is a fierce advocate for her clients and refuses to take a one-size-fits all approach. She uses her 20+ years of experience in drafting estate plans and administering estates and trusts to expertly advise her clients.

Natasha is a frequent speaker on the topics of estate planning and probate.

She is passionate about educating individuals on the mistakes most families make when it comes to Estate Planning and how to avoid them. Her Estate Planning 101 classes are popular due to her easy-to-understand teaching style and 20+ years of cautionary tales from estate plans gone horribly wrong. She’s proud of the fact that she can get her audience to laugh throughout the class…and the fact that she has a copy of Elvis Presley’s Last Will that she hands out on occasion in the class!

Natasha started Hazlett Law PLLC in order to serve her Tennessee clients. She is still Of Counsel to the law firm of Johnson May, located in Boise, Idaho where she has worked for 15 years.

Prior to her move to Idaho in 2009, Natasha worked for a large law firm in Memphis, Tennessee, where she practiced in the areas of estate planning, tax, probate, civil litigation and bankruptcy.

Natasha graduated from Southern Methodist University with B.A. degrees in both Political Science and Advertising. She received her J.D. from the Dedman School of Law at Southern Methodist University.

The Idaho Business Review honored Natasha with their Women of the Year award and she has been named as a Rising Star by Super Lawyers Magazine. Super Lawyers magazine was so intrigued by Natasha’s career path, that they did a full feature on her.

When she is not practicing law, she is a best-selling author of two books, an inspirational speaker and award-winning online marketing/business consultant. Natasha enjoys spending time with her husband, Richard, and three young children as well as connecting women in her community through Our Gathering Table, an organization she founded to help women find and build deep friendships locally.
